Your Health in Your Hands

I love feeling great……who doesn’t, right?!?

And I want to continue feeling great, and wait for it……….feel even better! (I hear you gasp!).

But we are taught that when we are ill, to go to the doctor and they check us over and give us something to make us better.

So the responsibility for our health and keeping us healthy is put on the doctor's shoulder’s. That doctor who sees us for less than 10 minutes (and maybe only a couple of times in a whole year!) to diagnose and prescribe a solution/cure.

But what if this wasn’t the case and that instead of the doctor being responsible for your health, they were instead a member of a team of health specialists headed up by YOU?!?

What if you took ownership of your health and how you feel, and cherry picked the best members for your very own Health Team?

And what’s even more exciting than having improvements in your own health at your fingertips, is the ability to draw on the experience and expertise of each and all of the members of your Health Team, rather than just one individual.

No more eggs all in one basket!

Each member has been chosen by you, to aid and improve any aspect of your health, whether it be a chronic condition that you are managing, help with stress, diet and nutrition, or preventative measures to stave off disease in the future.

And as you figure out what you want and need (massage every month (oh yes please), diet plans to lose weight, personal training session etc), you can add and make changes to your Health Team at any point.

But WHAT does this look like?

I started with my GP and worked outwards:

My GP and Endocrinologist are limited in what they can do for my autoimmune disease (partly due to training and partly due to restrictions in what they are allowed to test for and prescribe).

They are still members of my Health Team, but they can only work within the boundaries they have, so I needed to look elsewhere to fill the gaps.

I started with an Applied Kinesiologist to help with fatigue issues and then added in an Acupuncture and Massage Therapist to help unblock energy and release my muscles (they tense up very easily and get stuck so can’t relax fully).

My gym is also a member of my Health Team. I use the gym mats to practice yoga and sweat out toxins in the sauna.

Equally, I have certain companies that do specific high quality supplements that are gluten, dairy, GMO, corn, and soy free that I go to when I need specific items.

All of these people and resources allow me to be responsible for my own health. The allow me to go where I need to for the advice, expertise or treatment that I need at the time and give me the opportunity to ask questions.

The best thing of all…..it’s EASY!

I get to take action, find out information and move my health forward because I am the one driving the bus, as they say.

My health is in my hands, and I am looking after me in the best possible way.

It’s empowering being in the know, and having different places to call upon to create the outcome needed.

It can be this easy for everyone!

Identify who you have in your Health Team right now: determine what you need and therefore who and what else you want to add in. Think about things you may want to include that would be a ‘nice to have’ rather than a ‘need to have’ and start adding them too.

Create the Health Team that is going to serve you fully, to allow you to live your best and have you feeling great!!
